Service and Community Leadership Vision

As a dedicated Councillor with the Whittlesea City Council, I am filled with a deep sense of purpose and commitment to the community that has shaped my life. My decision to stand for and became a Councillor and the representative for South Morang with the Whittlesea City Council is ingrained in a desire to leverage my academic education, experience, skills, and passion for service to create a meaningful impact on the lives of South Morang and City of Whittlesea residents. It represents not just a continuation of my dedication to public service, but a profound commitment to shaping a future where our community thrives. A Lifelong Commitment to Public Service Public service has been the cornerstone of my career and personal life. Whether serving in the military, the Victoria Police or working in and with numerous other law enforcement agencies, practicing law, or volunteering in the CFA and emergency medical services, I have always been driven by a sense of duty to contribute to the greater good. Being a Councillor with the Whittlesea City Council is a natural progression of this commitment. It offers an opportunity to be at the forefront of decision making that directly affects the quality of life in South Morang and the broader City of Whittlesea community. My extensive experience in various public service roles has equipped me with a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities the community of the City of Whittlesea faces. I have seen firsthand the importance of effective governance, the need for strategic planning, and the impact of strong leadership. These experiences have not only prepared me for the responsibilities of local government but have also deepened my resolve to serve my community with integrity and dedication. Why I became a Councillor with the Whittlesea City Council Local government plays a critical role in shaping the day to day lives of the residents of the City of Whittlesea. It is here that policies are implemented, services are delivered, and community needs are heard and addressed. I believe that local government should be a true reflection of the people it serves, and that it must work tirelessly to ensure that every voice is given the opportunity to be heard, and valid concerns advocated for. My decision to campaign for and become a Councillor is driven by a deep belief in the power of local government to bring about positive change. I see my role as an opportunity to advocate for the interests of South Morang and the City of Whittlesea, to champion policies that promote sustainable growth, and to ensure that our community remains a safe, vibrant, and inclusive place to live. My Personal Vision for South Morang and the City of Whittlesea: Is to build a better future. I am committed to a vision of progress and inclusivity for South Morang and the City of Whittlesea, achieved on a foundation of key priorities that I believe will enhance the wellbeing of our community, they are: 1.Sustainable Development: Our community is growing, and with that growth comes the responsibility to ensure that development is sustainable, environmentally friendly, and aligned with the needs of our residents. I am committed to advocating for smart growth strategies that balance development with the preservation of our natural environment, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the beauty and resources of our area. 2.Enhancing Public Safety: Safety is a fundamental right for every resident. My experience in the Victoria Police and other law enforcement agencies has given me a deep understanding of the importance of effective public safety measures. I will work to strengthen our community’s safety through improved infrastructure, increased support for our emergency services, and the implementation of programs that address the root causes of crime. My goal is to create a community in the City of Whittlesea where everyone feels secure in their homes, schools, and public spaces. 3.Improving Community Services: Access to quality community services is essential for the wellbeing of all residents. I am dedicated to advocating in council to expand and improve the services available in South Morang and the City of Whittlesea, from healthcare and council services to recreational facilities and public transportation. By enhancing these services, we can ensure that our community meets the diverse needs of all residents, from young families to seniors. 4.Promoting Transparency and Accountability: Trust in local government is built on transparency and accountability. I believe that residents deserve to know how decisions are made in their council by Councillors. I will prioritise open communication, regular community engagement, and a commitment to making decisions that are in the best interest of our community. 5.Supporting Youth and Education: Our youth are the future of our community, and it is essential that we provide them with the opportunities they need to succeed. I will advocate for enhanced educational programs, extracurricular activities, sporting and community initiatives that support the development of our young people. By investing in our youth, we invest in the future of South Morang and the City of Whittlesea. Leveraging My Experience for Community Benefit Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience in leadership, management, strategic planning, and community service. These skills are invaluable in my role as a Councillor for the Whittlesea City Council. My background in the Victoria Police, other law enforcement agencies and legal practice has provided me with a strong foundation in public safety and governance. My military service has taught me the importance of discipline, resilience, and effective leadership and my work in emergency medical services has given me a deep connection to the community and a commitment to addressing its needs. I plan to leverage my experience to address the challenges facing our community. I will bring a fresh perspective to council, advocating for policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of our community. My approach will be proactive, solution oriented, and always focused on the best interests of South Morang and the City of Whittlesea. Engaging and Empowering the Community One of the most important aspects of my service as a Councillor will be community engagement. I believe that effective governance is built on a foundation of strong relationships with the people it serves. I am committed to being an accessible and responsive Councillor, ensuring that residents have the opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns. I will hold regular forums, meetings, and one on one conversations to listen to the community and gather input on the issues that matter most. Your feedback is essential in shaping the policies and initiatives that I will champion as your Councillor. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient community. I am committed to serving the communities of South Morang and the City of Whittlesea with integrity, dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility. My plans are driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others, and to ensure that South Morang and the City of Whittlesea remain places where people can thrive. I am excited to serve you as a Councillor with the Whittlesea City Council and the Representative of South Morang Ward and to work together to build a better future for our community. In this role, I will be guided by the values that have shaped my career and personal life being, service, integrity, and a commitment to the greater good. These are the principles that will inform every decision I make as a Councillor, and I am honoured to have the opportunity to bring them to the service of the community of South Morang and the City of Whittlesea.
