Today, I had the honour of joining around a 15 community members and Council officers on the City of Whittlesea’s Know Your City bus tour and what a fantastic experience it was!

Starting at 9:15 am and finishing around 3:45 pm, the tour took us on a journey through some of the most significant heritage sites in our great municipality. It was not only highly informative and impressively well organised, but it also gave me a much deeper appreciation for the rich history that surrounds us and our most important heritage registered sites.

We visited key locations across South Morang, Thomastown, Lalor, Mernda, Donnybrook Road and the Whittlesea Township. At each stop, I had the opportunity to speak directly with community members, both on the tour and at each of the locations we attended, hear their stories, and share in their passion for our local heritage.

A heartfelt thank you and congratulations to Fabiana, Zoe and Lisa, the Ageing Well Department and the Positive Ageing Team at the City of Whittlesea Council for delivering such a meaningful and memorable event. Your dedication and professionalism made the day truly special.

One of the highlights for me was visiting Ziebell’s Farmhouse Museum and Heritage Garden, part of the Westgarthtown Pioneer Precinct. I look forward to returning this Sunday to support them in their upcoming Open House Exhibition, and I encourage everyone to come along and experience this unique piece of our history.

Days like today remind us how fortunate we are to live in a city with such a proud past and a vibrant, engaged community.
