Last night’s Connect with Council New Residents Forum was a truly special evening  a chance to officially welcome those who have recently made the City of Whittlesea their home.

I had the honour of attending as Mayor and delivering a speech of welcome and inclusion, reinforcing the message that everyone no matter their background belongs in Whittlesea. It was a wonderful opportunity to personally connect with many of our newest residents, hear their stories, answer their questions, and share what makes our city such a great place to live. Their energy, fresh ideas, and diverse perspectives are exactly what helps shape the future of our municipality.

I was proud to stand alongside my fellow Councillors  a team of passionate, community focused representatives who, like me, are dedicated to serving every resident across our diverse and growing city. Also joined by our Chief Executive Officer and the Executive Council Officers of the City of Whittlesea. Their presence reflects our whole of Council commitment to engaging directly with residents and ensuring everyone feels supported, connected, and heard from the very beginning.

Whether you’re curious about local services, parks, roads, waste and recycling, neighbourhood safety, or community programs   we are here to listen, to help, and to work with you.

As new residents, you are now part of a bigger story one guided by Whittlesea 2040: A Place for All, our long term community vision shaped by thousands of local voices. Your voice is now part of that journey, and your presence will help bring that vision to life.

A special thank you to all of the incredible Council Officers who attended and helped organise this outstanding event. Your professionalism, warmth, and behind the scenes efforts ensured the evening was both meaningful and welcoming.

To everyone who came along   thank you. I hope you left feeling truly at home in our community. I am so glad you are here, and I look forward to seeing you around our great City of Whittlesea.

Welcome to your new home.
