Last night, I had the privilege as the Mayor of the City of Whittlesea in attending and delivering an uplifting speech at the Shiv Shakti Arts and Educational Centre, during a spiritually enriching and community driven Hanuman Ji Katha.

The Hanuman Ji Katha is a deeply revered spiritual experience in the Hindu tradition, one that beautifully weaves together storytelling and singing. It honours the life, virtues, and unwavering service of Lord Hanuman, one of the most beloved and respected deities in Hinduism. Often regarded as the embodiment of strength, loyalty, courage, and selfless devotion, Lord Hanuman’s story continues to inspire millions across the world as it did last night.

The evening was a celebration not just of faith, but of unity, reflection, and the collective power of community. It was a magnificent gathering, filled with vibrant performances, moving prayers, delicious food, and heartfelt fellowship.

What made the event truly special was the presence of so many community members from across the City of Whittlesea and beyond. I was honoured to speak with many residents who shared their stories, hopes, and gratitude for the inclusive spirit of the night. It was also a great pleasure to engage with the Hon. Evan Mulholland, Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council and councillors from neighbouring municipalities including Mayor, Pradeep Tiwari and Shivali Chatley.

In moments like these, I am reminded of the richness of our multicultural community and the strength that comes from embracing the diverse traditions, beliefs, and values that define us. The Hanuman Ji Katha was not only a spiritual experience, but a shining example of how faith can bring people together in peace, joy, and mutual respect.

My heartfelt thanks to the organisers at the Shiv Shakti Arts and Educational Centre for their warm hospitality and for creating such a meaningful space for cultural celebration and community connection. I look forward to continuing to support events that strengthen social harmony and nurture the spiritual wellbeing of our diverse community of the City of Whittlesea.
