Yesterday, as Mayor of the City of Whittlesea, I had the honour of attending the annual celebration of the Apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul at the Anglican Church in Bundoora.
This important event commemorates two of the most revered figures in Christianity these being Saint Peter, the first Pope and a symbol of unwavering leadership, and Saint Paul, the great missionary whose teachings helped shape the foundation of the Christian Church. Their legacy continues to inspire values of service, unity, and dedication to community.
It was a great celebration lunch rich in tradition, faith, and cultural pride. I was deeply honoured to be welcomed so warmly and to speak with many of those in attendance, including the Mayor of Banyule City Council and several councillors from both Banyule and Sunshine Councils. These opportunities to connect with fellow civic leaders and community members are a powerful reminder of the shared values that unite us not only in Bundoora, our City of Whittlesea but across municipalities.
I extend my sincere thanks to the organisers, Father Stephen, and the broader community for hosting such a meaningful and uplifting event. As Mayor, I remain committed to supporting and honouring the spiritual and cultural diversity that makes the City of Whittlesea such a vibrant and inclusive place to live.
