As Mayor of the City of Whittlesea, I am committed to continually learning, listening, and improving the way I serve our community. Today, I focused on several key areas of community wellbeing and had the privilege of accompanying the Director and senior Council officers from our Community Wellbeing Department. I extend my sincere appreciation for their outstanding professionalism, deep knowledge, and ongoing dedication to our city.

As part of today’s program, I met with council officers who are instrumental in delivering some of the most important services and programs across our municipality. A highlight of the day was visiting the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre (PRACC), one of our city's leading cultural and civic venues. PRACC plays a central role in bringing people together for arts, events, and community engagement, and I was impressed by the commitment of the council staff who support its operations and programming. Their efforts ensure PRACC continues to be a vibrant and inclusive hub for residents, performers, artists, and community groups alike.

Another standout moment was viewing the extensive public and street art located throughout the City of Whittlesea. I was inspired to see just how much thought and care goes into curating, commissioning, and preserving these artworks. Every piece is carefully registered and forms part of a growing cultural asset that reflects the unique character of our city. The process used by council to engage and appoint local artists is thorough, inclusive, and deserving of high praise.

As part of my personal and professional development, I have now also commenced research into our city’s rich history of public art and cultural expression, some of which dates back to the mid 20th century. This deep and ongoing connection to the arts is something I believe we should celebrate. I extend my thanks to all council officers who made today’s program possible and who continue to showcase the best of what Whittlesea has to offer. Your work in supporting community wellbeing, public art, and cultural engagement strengthens our identity and enriches the lives of all who live here.
