As someone who has lectured in criminology at university and served for many years with Victoria Police, I know all too well the patterns crime can take. One important reality is this, when a home, business, or community location becomes the victim of crime, there is often a heightened risk of being targeted again in the weeks that follow. This is known as ‘Near Repeat Victimisation’.
The good news is, we can take steps to reduce this risk and it starts with awareness and prevention. By increasing community knowledge, promoting practical crime prevention strategies; and encouraging simple but effective “target hardening” measures, we can help residents, businesses, and community groups protect themselves, reduce opportunities for offenders, and ultimately lower crime rates across our municipality.
As your Councillor on the Whittlesea City Council, I am deeply committed to crime prevention and public safety in our great city. Together, we can build a safer, more resilient community where everyone feels secure and where offenders are deterred before crimes even occur.

Let’s take back our streets, our homes, and our places of business and keep Whittlesea safe for our children, young people, seniors, and all who live, work, and visit here. Together, we can prevent crime before it happens.
