This evening, I had the pleasure of attending a scheduled Council Meeting at Merri-bek City Council, where I was warmly welcomed by the Mayor, Councillors, and Council Officers. I want to extend my sincere thanks to them for their generous hospitality and for taking the time to engage in thoughtful discussion and respond to the many governance related questions I posed.

This visit marks the beginning of a professional initiative I have undertaken as Mayor of the City of Whittlesea to personally attending the scheduled meetings of neighbouring local councils across our region. My goal is to further develop my understanding of diverse governance frameworks, decision making procedures, and best practices in local government. These visits will inform and enhance the way I lead, govern, and serve our community and I will bring this knowledge back to the City of Whittlesea.

I look forward to continuing this important journey, with my next visit being a scheduled Council Meeting at Mitchell Shire Council. Cross council engagement and collaboration are vital as we work together to deliver better outcomes for our respective municipalities and the broader region.
