Today, I had the great privilege of visiting one of our outstanding Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service centres here in the City of Whittlesea. As Mayor, it was an honour to meet and speak with our incredible team of nurses and staff who deliver this vital service to so many local families.
Our Maternal and Child Health Service offers free and confidential support to families with children from birth to school age. Staffed by registered nurses with additional qualifications in midwifery and maternal and child health, this dedicated team works tirelessly to promote the health, wellbeing, safety, learning, and development of children across our municipality.
These professionals provide parents and caregivers with trusted guidance on everything from newborn care, sleep, settling, feeding, and developmental milestones, to emotional wellbeing, family support, and safety. Their work is not only practical and compassionate, but also truly life changing for many.
I extend my sincere thanks to our Director of Community Wellbeing and to all the Council staff I met today for their time, dedication, professionalism, and the meaningful impact they make every single day. Your commitment to our youngest residents and their families strengthens the very foundation of our community.
Let’s continue working together to build a city that champions the health, wellbeing, and future of every child, every family, and every resident.
